Ear Tubes


What is it?

Ear tubes are used to prevent the amount of liquid behind patient’s ear drums. It does this by creating more ventilation in the middle ear. Ear tubes are usually surgically implanted into children who suffer excess ear fluid that can cause hearing loss and speech development.

How Should I Prepare?

This procedure is usually done early on in life. It is important that parents provide all information on a child’s medications and allergies to the doctor along with a family history of reactions to medications. Make sure the patient feels as comfortable as possible.

  • Tubes falling out early or not soon enough
