Liposuction (Arms)

Operacion-liposuccion

Liposuction of the abdomen is the process of suctioning out the excess fat of the arms to improve one’s body figure.

What is it?

Arm Liposuction removes the excess fat deposits from the arm using a cannula that is inserted through a small incision near the elbow or armpit to break and suction out fat cells. Arm Liposuction is typically an elective cosmetic procedure can help add contour and definition to the arms.

What should I do to prepare?

To prepare for liposuction, patients should take one antibiotic the night before surgery. Patients should refrain from eating or drinking after midnight the night before surgery as well. Patients should have a ride to and from the hospital. Patients should shower the morning of the procedure, but should refrain from using lotions, deodorants, powders, or creams before the surgery.

What happens during the process?

An anesthetic is given before the procedure, and general anesthetics for larger liposuction procedures will cause you to be “asleep” during the procedure. The surgeon will then make small incisions on the arms and insert a suctioning device inside this incision. The suction pump will then remove the excess fat, and the length of the procedure depends on how much fat is being removed. The amount of fat being removed will determine whether you go home the same day or the next day.

What are the risks and potential complications?

Although Liposuction is a relatively safe procedure, there are some associated risks and complications. Some of these include irritation, minor scarring, temporary swelling, bruising, soreness, and numbness around the arms region. In rare cases, infection, uneven skin contours, and skin discoloration may occur. Liposuction does not prevent weight gain, so fat may accumulate if a healthy diet and exercise regimen is not implemented and followed after the procedure.
